Workshop A

Workshop A:

Expectations versus Accountability

People everywhere have the same fundamental basic needs, but, how you organize your life is influenced by marketing, advertising and other profit-motivated techniques. In order to become energy independent, reduce waste and consumption of natural capital, thereby reducing our environmental footprint to manageable proportions, it is necessary to modify our life patterns.

Questions to be discussed in Workshop A (view the report):

  • How does society empower the individual and foster independence by moving from conditioned and perceived choices to real and substantive choices through better understanding of what our real needs are and what changes are necessary to satisfy them?
  • How can new modes of global dependence based upon principles of sustainability be encouraged?
  • How can alternative choices be destimulated and enabled through planning decisions baised on visions for sustainability.
